  • During your first appointment your therapist will conduct a comprehensive assessment to determine your needs, develop a personalized treatment plan and provide some treatment.

  • Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing for all appointments. We often recommend athletic wear such as sports tops and shorts. This allows for easier access to areas needing treatment while ensuring your comfort throughout the session.

  • Dr. Neil has extensive experience treating concussions. Research shows that up to 50% of concussion related symptoms are neck related. Using acupuncture and soft tissue techniques can be very effective at providing relief. Along with that is education and guidance on return to sport, school and life.

  • The frequency of massage therapy depends on your individual needs and goals. Many people benefit from weekly sessions for chronic issues, while others may opt for monthly maintenance.

Treatment-Specific Questions

  • Yes, after a comprehensive assessment Dr. Neil will utilize multiple treatment techniques including acupuncture, hands on soft tissue techniques as well as mobilizations. Often a traditional adjustment is not needed to achieve results.

  • Acupuncture is designed to be painless needle insertion. While some sensation is felt initially and during treatment it is often mild and only lasts for a brief period of time.

  • Acupuncture can assist with various conditions, including sprains and strains, pain management, stress relief, scar repair and recovery.

  • Most people experience minimal to no side effects from acupuncture. Some may feel slight soreness at the needle sites or mild fatigue after treatment. Any negative effects will pass within a couples hours to a day.

  • Orthotics are custom-made shoe inserts designed to support your feet and improve overall body alignment. They can help alleviate pain, improve mobility, and enhance comfort for individuals with various foot conditions.

  • Compression socks are designed to apply pressure to the legs, helping to improve blood circulation and reduce swelling. They are beneficial for individuals with conditions such as varicose veins, edema, or those who spend long hours standing or sitting.

  • Shockwave therapy can cause mild to moderate discomfort, especially during the treatment of sensitive or inflamed areas like a painful tendon or bone spur. The discomfort may last for only the treatment or for a day or so afterwards but should not leave any last effects. The purpose of the treatment is create microtrauma that helps kickstart stagnant or chronic injuries.
